Kathleen King, President and CEO
Kathleen was named Sewall’s president and CEO in October, 2001. Previously, she served seven years with the National Stroke Association, where she began as the Director of Stroke Prevention and Survivor Programs, then was promoted to Vice President of Outreach Programs. She came to National Stroke Association from Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital. Kathleen holds a bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master of Arts degree in Speech. She also has worked as a substitute teacher.
Heidi Heissenbuttel, Vice President of Programs
Heidi joined Sewall’s staff as a preschool classroom teacher in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in special education from the State University of New York. She earned a Master’s degree in early childhood special education from the University of Denver in 1990. She is director-qualified by the Colorado Department of Social Services and is CDE certified.
Coleen Truax, Vice President of Development
Coleen came to Sewall in January 2002 from the National Stroke Association. Coleen began her fundraising career as an intern with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society while attending the University of Nevada, Reno. She rose through the ranks at the MS Society, serving as development director for the Desert Southwest Chapter; as executive director of the Greater Carolinas Chapter; and as a national event manager and chapter consultant for the MS Society’s Training & Resource Center.
