This is the benefit event that puts the FUN in fundraising! The 4th Annual Blues Bash was held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Soiled Dove Underground, 7401 1st Ave., Denver. Guests enjoyed extraordinary blues and R&B tunes from one of Colorado’s most in-demand bands, AOA Alive On Arrival. This energetic quintet always generates audience enthusiasm with their top-notch musicianship and their passion for entertaining. Attendees were also treated to taste-tempting appetizers and delectable desserts from the Tavern Lowry and were able to bid on hundreds of silent auction items in the Blues Bash boutiques, including The Sports Zone, Just For Her, The Wine Cellar, The Gallery, and more.
Each year, Sewall hosts a fundraising luncheon to celebrate those individuals who help Denver’s children grow and thrive. This year’s event was held Thursday, May 7th at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center and the keynote address was given by John Robison, author of Look Me in the Eye. Born in 1957, John Robison was a self-proclaimed “problem child” who was often sad and had trouble making friends. His parents sent him to countless therapists but no one seemed able to help. After dropping out of school in 10th grade, John used his knack with electronics to earn a living. It wasn’t until he was in his thirties, running J E Robison Service, a luxury car repair company, that a customer and friend led him to Asperger’s..
